Sanlaap 2022: A National Conclave on Disseminating Eight Lessons Learned in developing resilience against climate risks for small scale farmers in semi-arid regions. The conclave was held at The Park Hotel, Kolkata on 22 July 2022. Organised by DRCSC and supported by AFB and NABARD. Eminent dignitaries (Mr K. Balamurgan, Chief Environment Officer, Govt. of WB; Ms. Usha Ramesh, CGM NABARD; Dr A. R. Khan, CGM NABARD; Ms Gitika Goswami (Associate vice-president, Development Initiatives), Prof. Saon Bandyopadhyay (BCKV), Mr Kailash Chand Pandey (Climate Expert), Prof. Sugata Hazra (School of Oceanographic Studies, Jadavpur University), Mr Dibyendu Sarkar (Ex-commissioner, P&RD), Mr Anshuman Das (Project Manager, WHH). Also Mr Ardhendu S. Chatterjee, President DRCSC; Mr Dilip Kr. Sarkar, Secretary DRCSC), Ms Somjita Chakraborty (CPO, DRCSC) and others were present. Mr. Sanjib Bandyopadhyay's (DDG, India Meteorological Department, Kolkata) addressed on the importance of weather forecast and agro-advisories in the field of Agriculture and Other Livelihoods. The panel discussion session on climate resilient farming practices: where farmers of Purulia and Bankura shared their experiences along with eminent dignitaries Ms. Gitika Goswami (Associate Vice President, Development Initiatives), Mr. Ardhendu S. Chatterjee (President, DRCSC), Dr. Pallab De (Project Director, DRCSC). Other discussion sessions also there on GIS technology for water harvesting structures and hyper-local weather stations, multi-stakeholder approach, purpose-driven women groups and community ownership etc.

In Chingri village a unique system of irrigation has setup recently; electricity will generate from a solar panel and a high capacity pump run by this solar power and will lift water from a well. It's a form of RLI. People of this village will be benefited by this unique irrigation system.

Hapa or small pond is the best source of irrigation in dryland areas. At Vatin village, Kasipur, Purulia; Fermer Shikha Rani Mahato and Durgavati Mahila Gorup cultivated different season vegetables like potato, onion, beans, peas as mixed cropping, in another polt she cultivated mustard in large scale. All crops are irrigated by Haapa water

A step pond (350' x 300') and embankment at Seja village, block: Kasipur, dist: Purulia, recently visited by DDM Purulia and Consultant from BIRD, Lucknow.

A Community drinking water plant has been installed in Seja village, Kasipore, Purulia in the last month. The main purpose of this project is to supply pure, germ-free water to local villagers.

Local level workshop for the school teachers of whole Kashipur block, Purulia organised by DRCSC. More than 170 participants attended this workshop where more than 125 are from teachers. Sonatholi kalapathar high school's eight class students performed a small drama on the effect of climate change. Some school student demonstrated their alternatative livelihood models.

School students visited DRCSC's Kroshjhuri office, Purulia for demonstration of weather stn and a discussion on env related issues. Also teachers attended at a meeting at Kroshjhuri office and had a discussion on climate change adaptation and it's effects they also visited a demo plot

At Lori village, Block: Kasipore, Purulia, where trenches digging work is going on in 50 bigha land. A fruit forest and social forestry will be done here using 30 x 40 model. This wok is doing by Lori Adibasi Bhumija Swanirvar Jojona group, implementing by DRCSC with financial support from NABARD AFB under CCA project.
In Majhpara village, Block: Chatna, Dist: Bankura. A check dam has been constructed by DRCSC under NABARD CCA project. The main purpose of the check dam is to recharge ground water reserves and increase the availability of water for agricultural purposes.

This year she sold out 8 goats to wholesalers and earned Rs.40000/-.

Mongali Kisku a merginal farmer of Sirpura village, Dist: Bankura. She did mixed cropping plot of approx 2 katha land with the technical support from DRCSC. She gets sufficient amount of vegetables throughout the year from this plot; which meet-up her family's need. She uses organic manure as cow dung, vermin-compost. She has a vermin-compost pit in her own.
